Sorry I'm a bit late in getting this posted. It was a little crazy after school for me today! Test tomorrow on the literary terms we talked about last week. It will be matching so make sure you know the words and what they mean! We talked today about reading strategies and how you need to make sense of what you are reading. We discussed text to text connections, text to self connections and text to world connections. The assignment is to write 10 sentences for the response log about a connection you made to something you read this week. It can one connection or several. (no short, choppy sentences) This is due tomorrow, as well as the 50 pages of reading due each week. The note taking sheet was returned. Some students received an "I" for incomplete and are expected to finish it and turn it in tomorrow. Otherwise, the "I" will morph into a "0" in my grade book! We also took a reading survey that will help me understand how you approach reading and how you feel about reading. Some kids still haven't discovered the joy that comes from reading a great story just for the sheer fun of it - no worksheets or grades attached! Let's work on finding some great stories to read!
