Today was a very hot day - it was the first day I ran out of water by the end of the day! I could tell that school was finally catching up with everyone as they weren't as perky as on Monday. We did an in-class assignment where the students had to write 5 questions they wanted to ask me. They could write more, but the minimum was five. As I get to know the students through various surveys and inventories, it only seemed fair that they should get a chance to know me as well. I'll be sharing answers starting tomorrow!

The quiz over the syllabus has been graded, but the results weren't so hot. I am going to go over the syllabus again and give everyone a second chance. It is really important to know what is required in this class. I want everyone to be on the same page on expectations.

We were able to watch the library video introducing the Truman books for this year. Truman books are new, but are very similar to the Mark Twain books the students have read in the past. These books are geared more toward the upper middle grade student. I am excited there is now a category for "my" kids! I've read each of the 12 books and they are pretty good. There are even some great "boy" books!

Thank you again for sending in cups! The kids are being so mature about the water cooler and are not abusing the process at all. I am so thrilled to have this group - they are a great bunch!

We will have a fire drill tomorrow, so our short class periods will be even shorter - at least second period will be. Get a good night's rest!
