We worked together in groups to determine meanings of new words from our next story, "The Ransom of Red Chief." Reading logs were collected for Tuesday people and students were again reminded that Book Talk is Thursday!!!!

Responses for the next couple of weeks are on the yellow sheet in your notebook. If you forget your notebook, you can still do the response on notebook paper. Following is the information from the yellow sheet:

Responses should be a minimum of 10, well-constructed sentences. Please see sticker on the front of your composition book for your turn-in day. You have one week to complete each log. Each log is worth 50 points!!!!

Following are the responses for each week. DO NOT WORK AHEAD! Read 50 pages each week – three books per quarter!!!!

For the week of September 29: Compare yourself to a character. How are you the same? How are you different?
For the week of October 6: Which character in the story do you most admire? Which do you least admire? Why?
For the week of October 13: If the story were placed in a different setting, in what ways might the characters, events or mood be different?
For the week of October 20: What do you learn about people, values, or society form this story?

There is no school on Friday, October 3. Friday people will need to turn their logs in on Thursday.
