Does it seem like time has just sped up considerably the last few weeks? It has for me! Friday we worked really hard on the Explore test. We will get those results before the end of the year.

Monday we had a GREAT field trip to the Corn Maze in Verona. I was so proud of the behavior of the kids and how they worked together to get themselves out of the maze. Their attitudes, despite the very cold wind, were fabulous.

Today, it was back to work. Dr. Ridder came by our room yesterday as we were getting ready to go on our field trip. He asked the class what we were learning - one student shouted out "Nothing!" but we know that's not true! We received our new response log questions for the quarter, which are glued to page 25 in our composition notebooks. Responses will begin on p. 26 for this quarter. (see the link to the response log questions) We also got a list of frequently misspelled words which we also glued onto the back cover of our composition notebooks. We will have a test over these words on Thursday. I will also expect students to spell these correctly in their responses and class work!

Capitalization rules for proper nouns and adjectives, names of people, titles used with names and words used with names were reviewed. We worked on an exercise in class and will check it tomorrow.

Did you figure out IVAN CAPP? It's the parts of speech! I: interjections; V: verbs; A: adjectives; N: nouns; C: conjunctions; A: adverbs; P: prepositions; P pronouns!
