THANK YOU for cups and scissors!!! We appreciate the help!
Cutting and pasting in the 8th grade! That was our project today as we created a drawing with shapes. Our next step is to write directions on how to re-create that drawing for someone who has not yet seen it. This should be interesting!!! It ties to our goal of reading, writing, and analyzing multi-step instructions.
I explained to the classes today that they do not have a response log due yet. All they need to have done is what we did in class on Tuesday. We will do bits and pieces together, in class, and the only thing they should be doing at home is reading, reading, reading, and then reading some more!
Students were to have their work from p. R16 turned in today. If any part of their answers were not complete sentences, or they forgot one period or capital letter, they received a zero. HOWEVER - they can RE - DO the assignment to get the full five points. By eighth grade I expect them to write complete sentences with capitals, ending punctuation, and no fragments. I will pass back their papers tomorrow and they can turn them back in during the last period or on Monday.
Mrs. Butler, our librarian without a library for the moment, will be coming to our class tomorrow to talk about the library and on Monday she will be back to check out Book Talk books!
The cool weather is helping the teacher immensely - I'm sure it helps the kids, too. Have a great evening and I'll see you all tomorrow!
